The Oakville A’s Minor Rookie Ball team won their first tournament this past weekend at Trafalgar Park in Oakville.
The boys put on a great display of offence and even better defence, running the table in the round robin and holding their opponents to just 10 runs. They beat the Markham Mariners 20-3 Friday afternoon and won 29-5 over the Pickering Red Sox in an evening game under the lights. On Saturday the boys beat Burlington Bulls 21-1 and the Kitchener Panthers 19-1.
On Sunday they played the North York Blues in the semi-final and came out on top 16-5. The A's faced a hot Mississauga North team in the final but they cooled them off scoring five runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to beat the Tigers 12-4.
