Minor Rookie A's East York Summer Slam Champions
The Minor Rookie Ball A's gave their Coaches and Dads a tournament win for Father's Day.

The A's won the East York Summer Slam this past weekend.

The round robin division on Saturday was very exciting with all games in the division won in the bottom of the seventh inning. Oakville won the first game 15-14 over Cambridge when Trevor W hit a line drive single to score the winning run. Oakville lost its second game 19-18 to the Leaside Leafs. The A's had the lead going into the bottom of the seventh but the determined Leafs scored 4 runs in the inning to win the game. Because Cambridge beat Leaside - also a walk off win in the seventh - all three teams were tied with one win and one loss after round robin play.

The A's lost out on the tie breaker and had to play a qualification game against the Oshawa Legionnaires Saturday night to get through to the quarter final. Oakville won the game 20 - 11.

In quarter final action, the A's beat the Aurora Blue Jays 31 - 18 in five innings, setting up a rematch with Leaside in the semi final. After a close six innings, the A's scored 7 runs, including a home run by Alexander P, in the top of the seventh and won the semi final 21 - 15.

The A's beat the Whitby Chiefs in the final, scoring 22 runs and giving up 5 over five innings of play.

The weekend featured three home runs - Tristan, Louis, Alexander - and four beautiful double plays by Ethan (Aurora), Alexander (Leaside), Trevor/Alexander/Evan (Oshawa), Ethan/Alexander (Whitby).
