Umpires (Oakville Minor Baseball)

PrintUmpires

Welcome!

We are already working toward the upcoming 2017 season and there are many changes on the way. This season will include a very large House League and 22 Rep teams – one of the largest Rep programs in Canada!

2017 is a Super Clinic year for new and returning Level 3 umpires. Super Clinics are already scheduled and are open for registration. Oakville is not a Super Clinic host, and attendance will require some travel. If you were a Level 2.3 umpire in 2016 you are eligible to attend a Level 3 Super Clinic this year. Level 3 umpires can umpire Rep Midget baseball and above. Send me an e-mail if you have questions about the Super Clinics or OMBA “big diamond” baseball for the upcoming year.

All Rep-level baseball umpires are required by the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) and Baseball Canada to be re-certified yearly. Oakville Minor Baseball will be hosting a one-day clinic in April 22, 2017 (time and location yet to be determined). This clinic certifies Level 1 or Level 2 umpires from Oakville as well as umpires from the surrounding area. You will be required to attend the entire clinic to successfully attain certification by the OBA trainers.

·         In the event that our clinic date does not work with your schedule, you will be required to attend an alternate course in the 1-day format at another hosting facility. The list of clinics is posted on the OBA website at www.baseballontario.com. Dates are added periodically over the spring so check in often.

·         Click on the Umpires “Development” tab and search under the “2017 Umpire Clinics” tab. There are several clinics posted and note that space is limited and pre-registering is required.

·         Step #1- Register at www.baseballontario.com

·         Step #2- Pre-Pay for attending the Oakville clinic (or alternate clinic of your choice) by clicking on www.baseballoakville.com

You can independently contact the host and book your spot and confirm attendance.  Once you have successfully completed the course you must send me an email to let me know that you are recertified or be prepared to bring your Umpire Card with you to the OMBA booking night(s) in May.

If you are not interested in returning as an umpire, please take a moment and let me know.  Your name will be removed from my directory and email distribution list.

The season’s booking night date(s) will be forwarded to everyone end-April early May once we have the complete House League and REP schedules.  It is essential that each umpire bring their own schedule with them for this activity if you are a player yourself or participate in any other summer sport or work elsewhere as well.  It makes the booking process run smoothly.

I look forward to another busy summer and will be updating more details on the Baseball Oakville website soon.

Should you have any questions please contact me,
Robert Dickenson, Umpire-in-Chief
