2013 Minor Peewee Tier 2: OBA A Champions

Oakville's Minor Peewee A's (AA team) won the Ontario Provincial Championships in Oshawa on the Labour Day long weekend.  After winning the qualifying tournament in early August, the team earned the right to represent the Central Ontario Baseball Association (COBA) at the Provincials.  In addition to Oakville, teams from Chatham, Vaughan, Barrie, Hamilton, Toronto, Guelph, Clarington, Kitchener, St. Catherines, London, and host city Oshawa, made it to this prestigious tournament.

Oakville was the only team that went undefeated in the double-knock out format tournament outscoring their opponents 52-24 over 5 games.  Oakville defeated a quick Chatham team 8-2 in the semi-final. Starting pitcher Ryan Matsuba went 6 2/3 innings and was game MVP in that win.  In the Championship game vs Vaughan, two excellent pitchers duelled to a draw after 6 innings.  However, Oakville finally broke through in the top of the 7th to pull ahead and win 5-2.  Grayden Stauffer pitched a complete game to earn MVP honours in the championship game.  Contributions from every player on the roster, exceptional pitching and defense, and relentless offense, was the reason this team had a 43-11 season - and are proud to bring the Provincial Championship trophy home to Oakville.
